When will Lionel Messi be officially unveiled as an Inter Miami player?
The former Barcelona superstar will become a free agent on 30 June and will move to the United States and MLS soon after.
Inter Miami have caused the biggest transfer splash of the year so far, agreeing a deal to take Barcelona legend Lionel Messi to MLS after he rejected the offer of a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain. And we now know when Argentina’s World Cup-winning captain will officially be unveiled by the Herons.
Inter Miami to unveil Messi and Sergio Busquets together
Sunday 16 July is the date to mark on your calendars, as reported by Argentine broadcaster Televisión Pública. Messi’s former Barça teammate Sergio Busquets is also expected to be unveiled at the same event.
When will Messi make his debut for Inter Miami?
The 36-year-old would then be available to make his debut for the club in the Leagues Cup clash against Liga MX side Cruz Azul on Friday 21 July, although the fact that he will only have been in Florida for five days could limit his involvement. Time will tell.
Riquelme tribute and vacation in Argentina
Messi is currently still on vacation in Argentina, where celebrated his 36th birthday and took part in former international teammate Juan Román Riquelme’s Boca Juniors testimonial.
“It’s a really nice feeling to have been able to part of the tribute to him (Riquelme), especially considering what he means for Argentine soccer and Boca. It was great to be back at La Bombonera again. Now I’ll have few days of vacation and then I will start a new life in a new city and new club. I am really excited about it”, Messi told Televisón Pública.
