Hot on the heels of the Premier League fixture schedule release comes that of the Bundesliga with the German league (and the French Ligue 1 & 2) set to confirm their competition calendar for the season ahead on Friday, 17 June.

This will be an atypical season for domestic competitions across the world with the campaign set to be interrupted by the staging of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar which will run over November and December and force a break in all major leagues.

Bundesliga start-finish date:

The Bundesliga campaign gets underway on 5 August and this season features the return of Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen after a spell in Bundesliga 2 for both sides following their promotion with Hertha Berlin confirming their top flight status after a play-off win against Hamburg SV.

The World Cup (21 November-18 December) will result in a two-month winter break at domestic level after matchday 15 for the Bundesliga with the competition resuming again on 20 January, 2023.
