FC Barcelona have confirmed that Serie A side AS Roma will be the opponents at this year’s Trofeo Gamper with the Catalan side to face both the men’s and women’s teams.

FC Barcelona Femeni will face their Italian counterparts with the earlier kick-off time of 17:30 (CEST) with the men’s game being staged at 21:00 CEST. Both teams will be officially presented to the Barça faithful with the Trofeo Gamper the traditional pre-season curtain raiser staged before the new season gets underway.

Previous Gamper opponents have included the likes of Arsenal, Boca Juniors, Santos with Roma last featuring in the 2015 edition of the competition.

Mou Camp Nou return

AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho enjoyed success in his first season on the ‘Giallorosso’ bench as his Roma side won the first ever UEFA Conference League trophy with a 1-0 win over Dutch giants Feyenoord in Tirana last month. It will be a Catalan capital return for the Portuguese coach after his season as assistant to Bobby Robson at Camp Nou in 1996. Mou stayed at Barcelona through to 2000 before moving back to Portugal.
