The first FIFA international break of the year is already upon us with the first international games taking place this evening, 24 March. Mexico have CONCACAF Nations League games lined up against Suriname and Jamaica. Likewise, in Europe national teams will play the first qualifying matches for Euro 2024 with some interesting confrontations in store over the next week or so.

The Liga MX will take advantage of the international break to play a couple of matches which were rescheduled. The Week 4 match between Querétaro and Cruz Azul was postponed due to ongoing work on La Corregidora with a new security system being fitted inside the stadium. That game will now be played on Wednesday 29 March kicking off at 9:05 p.m local time (11:05 p.m. EDT / 8:05 p.m. PDT).

There are still five games to go in the Liga MX 2023 Clausura, which means 15 points to play for. Cruz Azul, who are currently eighth on 16 points will be looking to take advantage of their game in hand to continue in the fight for the playoff places. Meanwhile, the Gallos Blancos have a much tougher task. They are in penultimate place in the table on nine points with few options of making the next phase. Their priority if building up enough points to allow them to leave the bottom part of the table.
