Where will Manchester United play on their summer tour 2024?
The Premier League side have announced that they will be returning to the United States for a preseason tour later this year.
Manchester United have one of the biggest global fanbases in the world of sport and remain one of the most-watched teams on the planet. They boast a considerable following in the United States and will be heading across the Atlantic for their 2024 summer tour.
On Monday the English club announced that they will be returning to the US for a series of preseason fixtures later this year. The announcement simply reads “The Mancs are coming”.
So far there is very little in the way of detail to accompany that announcement. In 2023 the team’s preseason fixtures began on 12 July and concluded on 8 August, so we can expect similar dates for the 2024 edition.
Last year Manchester United’s US tour took them to MetLife Stadium (New Jersey), Snapdragon Stadium (San Diego), NRG Stadium (Houston) and Allegiant Stadium (Las Vegas).
Is the Premier League Summer Series going ahead?
Manchester United are the latest PL side to announce a US tour but there will be no repeat of the Summer Series that was arranged for 2023. Last year Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion competed in a friendly tournament on the East Coast of the United States.
That tournament was deemed a success but the Premier League has been unable to organise another edition for 2024. The Athletic reports that complications had prevented the English top flight from holding for a preseason competition but plans are in place to return in 2025.
Aside from the league’s own tour, Man United are not the only team making the trip across the Atlantic. Arsenal and Liverpool are heading to the States this year and are expected to play against each other in a friendly fixture. Chelsea and Manchester City will also be in the US and are reportedly in discussions to organise a friendly.
Last year’s US tour was a major commercial success for United. Their friendly against Arsenal at the MetLife Stadium sold out. Ticket sales for the game made it the stadium’s highest-grossing club soccer match since the venue opened in 2010.
