Atlético Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Bodo Glimt and Newcastle United are the first four qualifiers from this season’s Champions League knockout-phase playoffs, with four more clubs still to join them in the round of 16.

How Tuesday’s UCL playoff action unfolded:

In Tuesday’s playoff second legs, Bodo Glimt completed a major shock, beating Inter Milan 2-1 in Italy to seal a 5-2 aggregate victory over the 2025 runners-up. Kjetil Knutsen’s men are the first Norwegian club ever to win a knockout tie in the Champions League.

In the day’s two other 3:00 p.m. ET kickoffs, Newcastle completed a 9-3 home-and-away thumping of Qarabag, while Leverkusen’s goalless second-leg draw with Olympiacos earned the Germans a 2-0 aggregate win.

Earlier, in Tuesday’s 12:45 p.m. ET game, Atlético were the first team to clinch qualification from the playoffs, securing a 7-4 aggregate win over Club Brugge. Six days after the teams had drawn a six-goal thriller in Belgium, Atlético thumped Brugge 4-1 in the return leg in Madrid, Alexander Sorloth bagging a hat-trick for the hosts.
