Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch is on a high after his side defeated Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League last weekend.

Leeds sit 15th in the Premier League and take on Bournemouth at Elland Road on Saturday, the same day that LAFC will play Philadelphia Union in the MLS Cup final.

Marsch has become one of American soccer’s highest-profile managers following spells with New York Red Bulls and RB Leipzig before landing in Yorkshire.

Cherundolo vs Curtin

On Saturday, two of his closest friends, Steve Cherundolo and Jim Curtin, will go head to head for silverware as LAFC take on the Union at the Banc of California Stadium.

The Black & Gold will welcome Eastern Conference champions Philadelphia on 5 November after Jim Curtin’s side beat New York City FC on Sunday at Subaru Park.

LAFC’s 3-0 victory over Austin FC in the Western Conference Final on Sunday gives them the chance to win their first ever MLS Cup.

Marsch’s prediction

Andrew Wiebe of Extratime spoke with Marsch to get a prediction for Saturday’s final.

“My mind says LAFC but my heart, probably in this moment, says Philly,” Marsch said.

“These are two very good friends of mine. If I were to pick two current coaches who are my best, the guys that I’m closest with, I would think it would be these two guys.”

Marsch hopes Curtin clinches title

“Steve is new in his coaching career, and Jimmy’s put a lot into it,” Marsch added. “I would probably like to see Jimmy get one this time.”
