The Champions League quarter-final second-leg between Chelsea and Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday will be officiated by Daniele Orsato.

The Italian referee takes charge of a Real Madrid Champions League fixture for the eighth time. The first was a memorable night for Madrid as they defeated Malmö of Sweden 8-0 at the Santiago Bernabéu in the 2015/16 season.

The last time Orsato refereed Los Blancos was in their 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig in the Champions League group stages earlier this season.

Who is Daniele Orsato?

Orsato, 47, is one of the most experienced referees in European football. His experience should let the game today flow as both sides look to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

He is from Montecchio Maggiore, Vicenza, Italy, and has been a UEFA referee since 2010. Before becoming a referee, Orsato was a coach.
