PSG are already planning for the summer transfer window. After a difficult start to the year, suffering more defeats before March (5) than in the whole of last year (4), sporting advisor Luis Campos’ work has been called into question, even more so after failing to bring in players during the January transfer window. The Portuguese, however, wants to improve the squad in the coming months.

According to L’Équipe TV, the channel of the prestigious French newspaper, PSG are monitoring three players for the summer: Marcus Thuram, Manu Koné and Randal Kolo Muani. The latter would be the priority to strengthen the forward line. First, however, they must find a way out for Hugo Ekitiké, for who there is a €40m mandatory purchase option. His performances have been disappointing, as well as his character, which has generated a lot of doubt in the dressing room.

Kolo Muani’s price tag could be an obstacle for PSG. He has 10 goals and 12 assists in the Bundesliga, 15 and 14 respectively in all competitions. L’Équipe report that the German side have set a price of €100m and the club cannot, at this stage, afford to pay such a sum as they will be affected by the new Financial Fair Play rules. The alternative signing could be Marcus Thuram.

Backup PSG options

The eldest of Lilian Thuram’s sons is a much more viable option, especially as he would arrive as a free agent when his contract expires in June this year. Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director Roland Virkus has confirmed that the French international will leave in the summer. PSG will continue to do their scouting in case negotiations with Kolo Muani do not come to fruition.

The interest in Manu Koné is long-standing. The Gladbach midfielder, 21, was on PSG’s radar last season as Luis Campos considers him to be a midfielder with great potential. The former Toulouse player has become one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga. His price would be around €25m, a feasible figure for the Ligue 1 leaders.
