MEXICO NATIONAL TEAM
Who will be on Diego Cocca’s Mexico coaching staff?
We take a look at the assistant coaches that Mexico boss-to-be Cocca is likely to take with him to the national team.
Diego Cocca is set to take over as Mexico head coach, with the task of leading the North American nation to a historic World Cup performance as co-hosts of the 2026 tournament.
For what, without a doubt, will be the biggest challenge he has faced in his career in the dugout, the Argentine will need the support of a backroom team capable of helping him steer the team to success.
Cocca has a well-structured coaching staff that has accompanied him on his various missions at clubs. He will now seek to emulate those achievements with the Mexican national side.
Who will be in Cocca’s Mexico coaching team?
Cocca has three particularly trusted assistants who are likely to accompany him on this new adventure.
Marcelo Goux
The first is Marcelo Goux, Cocca’s right-hand man. Born in Buenos Aires, Goux, 47, has been working alongside his compatriot since the 50-year-old’s appointment by Atlas in 2020.
Goux was a fundamental part of the decision-making that led Los Rojinegros to back-to-back Liga MX titles.
Javier Bustos
Fellow Argentine Javier Bustos, 52, is a fitness coach. He has worked with Cocca at three of the clubs he has led in Mexico: Tijuana, Atlas and Tigres.
Renso Valitoni
At 35, Renso Valitoni is the youngest of Cocca’s assistants. He’s also from Argentina. Valitoni joined Cocca’s staff as a fitness coach at Tijuana, and followed him to Atlas and Tigres.
