Why are there no Premier League games this weekend?
This weekend the Premier League takes a break for another English trophy.
Well, you’re here, so you clicked on it: admit you forgot about the FA Cup.
Yes, dear reader, the Premier League is not all there is in the world of English football, and the FA Cup - the oldest national football competition in the world - is back again.
That’s why we don’t have any Premier League games this weekend.
We’re at the Fourth Round proper of the FA Cup, with a total of 32 teams still in the competition. After that, we have the Fifth Round, and then the competition moves to the quarter-finals.

At the time of the hiatus, Manchester City are 4 points behind league leaders Arsenal, who sit on 57 points from 26 games. Aston Villa are 3 behind Guardiola’s side, and a resurgent Manchester United round out the top 4.
At the other end of the league, Wolves are rock-bottom with just 9 points, Burnley are ahead of them on 18, and West Ham make up the relegation spots.
The fight for survival does not stop there, with Forest and Spurs down at the wrong end of the table despite having European football this season; Leeds United and Brighton & Hove Albion are slightly ahead of those two in the battle at the bottom.
