Well, you’re here, so you clicked on it: admit you forgot about the FA Cup.

Yes, dear reader, the Premier League is not all there is in the world of English football, and the FA Cup - the oldest national football competition in the world - is back again.

That’s why we don’t have any Premier League games this weekend.

We’re at the Fifth Round proper of the FA Cup, with a total of 16 teams still in the competition. After that, we have the quarterfinals, and then the competition moves to the semifinals.

Premier League as it stands

At the time of the Premier League hiatus, Manchester City are 7 points behind league leaders Arsenal, although Pep Guardiola’s team have a game in hand. Manchester United and Aston Villa lead the race to finish in the top four, with Chelsea and Liverpool 3 points adrift of both.

At the other end of the league, Wolves look to be dead and buried despite a recent resurgence, while Burnley also appear to be facing the drop.

West Ham occupy the final relegation spot but are behind Nottingham Forest on goal difference only, and just a point adrift of Tottenham, who are in free fall. Leeds United will also be looking nervously over their shoulders.

When is the draw for the 2025-26 FA Cup quarterfinals?

The FA hasn’t yet confirmed when the draw for the quarterfinal will be made, although it is likely to take place on Monday 9 March ahead of West Ham vs Brentford. The fifth round will be played around the weekend of Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 April 2026.
