Why is Kylian Mbappé not playing for Real Madrid today against Getafe in LaLiga?
The French forward has been ruled out of Madrid’s upcoming games and will not feature in the fixture today.
Real Madrid take on Getafe in LaLiga EA Sports (3pm ET) without Kylian Mbappé, their star forward, after he was ruled out of the game with an injury.
The French striker has been placed on Madrid’s injury list for a number of upcoming fixtures as he deals with a persistent knee issue that has had fans on tenterhooks for a while.
With the World Cup approaching, Mbappé’s recovery process is not as cut and dry as perhaps it otherwise would be, and the club are not risking any chances of recurrence with what is already a delicate physical issue.

What injury does Mbappé have? When will he return?
His return date, much like the exact nature of the injury, is shrouded in mystery. Some reports have speculated on a 3-week recovery period while others have suggested it could be up to double that time, with Madrid not wanting to rush back the player who has been playing with discomfort since December.
In the meantime, Los Blancos have to find a solution to the on-field absence of their top attacker. Mbappé has scored 23 goals in as many LaLiga games and 38 times in 33 appearances in all competitions, including 13 goals in just eight Champions League games.
He has scored 42.6% of Real Madrid’s LaLiga goals (23 of 54) and 43.2% of their overall total across all competitions (38 of 88).
Added to Mbappé’s absence is those of Jude Bellingham (hamstring), Éder Militão (hamstring), Dani Ceballos (calf), Eduardo Camavinga (toothache), and Raúl Asencio (neck).
Real Madrid take on Getafe at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu on Monday 2 March at 3pm ET.
