Why is Lamine Yamal not playing for Barcelona today against Osasuna in LaLiga?
The Spanish winger was left out of Hansi Flick’s starting XI for the tough away game at El Sadar.
FC Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal was left out of the side to face Osasuna (3:00 p.m. ET / 12:00 p.m. PT.) in LaLiga as Hansi Flick opted to rotate heavily for the game.
At the top of the league and unbeaten, Barcelona have cruised so far this season in the domestic competition, winning all of their games in a convincing manner and swatting teams aside with goals and brutal football. However, Flick went for youth and brought Pau Víctor, Sergi Domínguez and Gerard Martín into the lineup, as well as Pau Cubarsí and Pablo Torre, more established first team members.
Why was Lamine Yamal dropped? Is he injured?
Do not fear, Barcelona fans, Lamine Yamal is not injured. The change is purely down to resting the player and keeping his minutes under control. Osasuna have been poor this season and despite El Sadar not being a regular happy hunting ground for the azulgrana, Flick clearly sees this as a moment in which he can give the youngster some time off.
The same goes for Raphinha, Barcelona’s captain in the absence of Ter Stegen. The Brazilian will also start the game on the bench and may see some minutes later on, but there is no injury to worry about.
The game between Osasuna - Barcelona will be played on Saturday 28 October, with kick off at 3:00 p.m. ET / 12:00 p.m. PT. The following channels will be broadcasting the game live in the US: ESPN, ESPN+. Watch a live stream of Osasuna vs Barcelona on FuboTV (Free Trial)
