Why is Luis Suárez not playing for Inter Miami today against Orlando City in MLS?
The Uruguayan centre-forward was ruled out of the Florida derby after picking up an injury.

Luis Suárez will not feature for Inter Miami in their MLS Florida derby against Orlando City SC after the forward reportedly felt discomfort in his leg during the final training session leading up to the game.
At present, not much is clear as regards the extent of the issue, including long Suárez will remain on the sidelines for Inter Miami.
The 2026 MLS season was always going to be a challenging campaign for the former Barcelona and Liverpool forward, who will likely see a significant drop in minutes on the pitch after Inter Miami moved to sign striker Germán Berterame from Liga MX side Monterrey.

The 27-year-old Mexican will be Javier Mascherano’s first-choice option up front, playing ahead of the free spirit Lionel Messi, as Inter Miami look to go one step further in their short history.
Suárez is already seeing the consequences, playing just 9 minutes in Miami’s first game of the season, a troubling 4-0 loss to LAFC. Last season, in MLS, he played 28 times for The Herons, racking up over 2,000 minutes of action. In total across 2025, the 39-year-old played over 4,000 minutes for Inter Miami.
He scored 10 goals and got 10 assists in MLS; across 50 games in all competitions, Suárez managed 17 goals and 17 assists.
Inter Miami play against Orlando City SC today at Inter & Co Stadium with kick-off scheduled for 19:00 ET.
