REAL MADRID

Why is Mbappé not playing for Real Madrid against AC Milan in the friendly match in Chicago?

The Frenchman will be the biggest absence in Real’s first preseason match game against European giants AC Milan on American soil.

The new Real Madrid will play their first game in Chicago in a friendly against AC Milan in the Soccer Champions Tour. A first encounter where there will be many absences, especially this summer’s biggest signing, Kylian Mbappe.

It will be the first match for Los Blancos since they won their 15th Champions League title in June against Borussia Dortmund. With the addition of the French international and PSG superstar, Real will once again fight for all the titles in the 2024-25 campaign, where they will be defending their crown in Spain and Europe.

Mbappe won’t feature against AC Milan: when will he play with Real Madrid?

All the international players who reached the Euro or the Copa America semifinals were given some holidays and are expected to return to work in Valdebebas on August 7. The French forward, presented on June 16 as a Real Madrid player, featured in the Euro semifinals with France, losing to Spain.

Mbappé will miss Real Madrid’s three games on American soil. After taking on the Italians, Ancelotti’s team will face Barcelona in their US tour and Chelsea.

Kylian’s first game as a Madrid player could be on August 14. Madrid will face Atalanta in Warsaw in the European Super Cup and Los Blancos will be looking for the first of seven possible titles. If Carletto doesn’t give him minutes in that match, Madrid’s next game will be on August 18, as the current LaLiga champions will debut in the league against Mallorca in Son Moix.

Which Real Madrid players went to the US tour?

Ancelotti faces the first preseason friendly with 23 players, with only 11 having first-team experience: Courtois, Lunin, Lucas Vazquez, Rüdiger, Vallejo, Fran Garcia, Modric, Ceballos, Arda Güler, Brahim and Endrick. Another three players will join on Thursday, after the match against AC Milan. Those footballers are Vinicius, Rodrygo and Militao. The other seven players of the squad won’t be in the United States, as Carvajal, Bellingham, Camavinga, Tchouameni, Mendy, Valverde, and Mbappé will join their teammates after the tour.

A dozen homegrown players completed the squad that traveled to the United States. Those players are Fran Gonzalez, Joan Martinez, Jacobo Ramon, Lorenzo, Asencio, Obrador, Mario Martin, Nico Paz, Palacios, Jeremy de Leon, Latasa (on loan last season at Getafe), and Alvaro Rodriguez.
