Update:

Inter Milan have it all to do to reach the 2025-26 Champions League round of 16 on Tuesday night, needing to overturn a two-goal deficit after suffering a surprise defeat to Norwegian team Bodo/Glimt in the first leg last week. And the Italian giants will have to do it the hard way, with captain and talisman Lautaro Martínez unavailable for selection.

Martínez had been a doubt for the first leg in Bodo but did ultimately take his place in the starting lineup. However, Inter coach Christian Chivu’s decision backfired as the Argentine striker aggravated a calf injury and was forced off just after the hour mark.

How long will Lautaro Martínez be out for?

The Serie A club haven’t stated how long the 28-year-old will be out for, although reports in Italy suggest he could be on the sidelines for three to four weeks. Martínez missed the weekend victory over Lecce and is also expected to sit out the Coppa Italia semifinal first leg against Como (March 3), as well as the league derby against Milan (March 8).

Martínez is Inter’s leading goalscorer this season with 18 goals in all competitions, helping Chivu’s team open up a 10-point lead at the top of Serie A.

Bodo/Glimt chasing Champions League history

Inter, the beaten Champions League finalists in 2023 and 2025, had been firm favorites to beat Bodo/Glimt and reach the last 16 but suffered the same fate as Manchester City and Atlético Madrid, who both lost to the Norwegians in January. The four-time champions of Norway could become the first team from the Scandinavian country to win a Champions League knockout phase tie.
