Will Barcelona play against Arsenal in the US?

Barcelona’s match against Juventus was suspended on Saturday after the squad was hit by viral gastroenteritis. Barça have since sent a message to fans to “attend and enjoy” the game against Arsenal in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Barça are in direct contact with the London club and say that the match will take place at the SoFi Stadium.

It was a tough Saturday for Barça. Early in the morning, part of their squad was already waiting at the Los Angeles airport to fly to San José, from where they had to travel to Santa Clara to play against Juventus at Levi’s Stadium. They contacted the Italian outfit and the tournament organisers to inform them that a significant part of the squad was affected by viral gastroenteritis and the team was unable to fly to San Francisco.

Barça could not propose new dates to play the game because they could not guarantee that their players would be able to compete on Sunday, so they lost the ticketing revenue they agreed for the tour, from which they expected to earn between €12m and €14m. Barça are now encouraging fans to buy tickets for the match against Arsenal.
