The American has been in great form lately, and he could be a starter for the Wednesday game against Chelsea.
For Gio Reyna, the Qatar World Cup seems very far away. The talented American winger has been in form for his team Borussia Dortmund. The USMNT player has scored three goals in the last three matches he’s played, earning him a starting spot against Werder Bremen this last weekend.
Reyna has battled with injuries for the last year and a half, and he’s just now getting his groove back. Oddly enough, he has been a super substitute for Dortmund these last couple of games. A role that Gio found discouraging during the World Cup. While in Qatar, he earned the criticism of his teammates and coach for his attitude towards being left out of the starting eleven.

Will Gio Reyna start for Dortmund against Chelsea in the Champions League?
Assuming that last weekend’s game against Bremen indicates what’s to come for the Champions League, Gio Reyna has many opportunities to start the game against the English team.
Dortmund’s coach praised the American and asked people to give Gio time to get back to form. “He had to fight with injuries for almost one-and-a-half years. He has scored the winning goal twice, is incredibly good in tight spaces, and can make quick decisions. He’s not at 100 percent yet.”
