Will Lichnovsky join América before Liga MX transfer window shuts?
As the deadline for signing non-homegrown players looms in Mexico, Club América are eyeing a move for Tigres’ Chilean defender Igor Lichnovsky.
Tigres defender Igor Lichnovsky is in contention to join Liga MX rivals Club América before the league’s foreign-player transfer window closes on Wednesday.
América look to lure Lichnovsky
Well-connected sources have told AS México that América have approached the Chilean about a possible move to the 13-time Mexican title winners.
The transfer will now come down to whether or not Lichnovsky, who Tigres are keen to offload, accepts a switch to Las Águilas. Any deal must be completed by 5pm CST (7pm ET), which is when the deadline to sign non-Mexican players passes.
Although Lichnovsky has been keen to remain at Tigres, the defending Liga MX champions have been working to find the 29-year-old a new club before the window closes.
New boy Flores in line for Tigres bow
Tigres don’t plan to do any more incoming transfer business, however, after completing the signing of Marcelo Flores from Arsenal last Thursday.
The 19-year-old, who played on loan at Spanish club Real Oviedo during the 2022/23 season, could make his debut against Atlas this weekend.
