Neymar is recovering from ankle surgery and is expected to return to Paris soon, where he has a contract with PSG until 2025.

The 31-year-old broke through as an exciting teenager at Brazilian club Santos and quickly had interest from the top European clubs.

Barcelona won the race to land the player and signed him in 2013 before he went on to enjoy a successful spell at Camp Nou, alongside Lionel Messi and Co.

Move to PSG

A move to Ligue 1 came next, when PSG paid a world-record fee of €222m for the forward in 2017.

Reports in France earlier this year claimed that Neymar wants to stay in Paris for the time being. But when his time is up at the Parc des Princes, who will be able to afford him?

If he doesn’t stay in Europe when he leaves PSG, a return to Brazil could be on the cards.

Neymar discusses future in Brazil

Due to his current injury, he is in Brazil and has spoken in an interview with Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte about returning to his former club Santos.

“I’ll be back one day, soon,” Neymar said.

He added: “It’s great to be back home. I feel at home here, and I’m happy to be back here 10 years later. Unfortunately, it was a draw, and I wanted the win.

“I came here to support Santos and receive the fans’ affection. It is the club that gave me everything, opened up doors for me and my family, and revealed me to the world. I am very happy to be here.”
