As time passes by, it becomes unlikely that Lionel Messi will be pulling on the PSG shirt at Parc des Princes next season and recent incidents such as being booed by home fans have been instrumental in helping form the Argentine’s decision not to renew.

At present, three options are in the table for the striker and involve a possible move to Saudi Arabia, a Barcelona return or a fresh adventure in MLS with former Portland Timbers Diego Valeri striker adding his voice in encouraging the Rosario born player to move to the US.

Speaking to Diario Olé, the former striker stated: “MLS could offer Messi a path and something beyond. A life project. Hopefully he can be convinced. The decision will be made by him and his family, regardless of the offer he has”.

Beckham V2.0

Valeri spent plenty of time in MLS and knows the league well and is also an analyst on MLS Season Pass (Apple TV) and acknowledged that he is excited about the prospect of Messi in Miami and claimed that his arrival would have the same or a greater impact as to when David Beckham arrived at LA Galaxy.

“I can’t be impartial, I can’t be objective about this. I am totally biased, because I want him to be here tomorrow and it looks like it would be with Inter Miami. His arrival would be comparable to that when (David) Beckham arrived in 2007 and gave the league an incredible boost in global visibility ”, he added.

Valeri concluded by praising the development that MLS has undergone in recent years stating that it has come on “by leaps and bounds” with the “mix between younger and experienced players being key”.
