Will Sergiño Dest join Manchester United?
FC Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernández has stated that the United States international will not be needed this season and he is close to a move.
Sergiño Dest has not been included in the first four matchdays of the 2022/23 LaLiga season and FC Barcelona’s head coach, Xavi Hernández, has made it clear that he will not be needed this campaign. Ronald Araujo has been playing at right fullback in all four games of the season and Sergi Roberto is the second option in that position.

According to reports from media outlets in Spain, and in England, Erik ten Hag has requested that Manchester United sign Sergiño Dest before the summer transfer window closes. The Premier League side are willing to offer Aaron Wan-Bissaka in exchange for the US international on a season-long loan deal.
The international full back wants to stay at Camp Nou and prove that he can be important for the team if given an opportunity. But Barcelona is aware that they could receive much needed money if they sell Dest because several teams, including United, have been inquiring.
According to Transfermarkt, Dest’s market value is $33 million and Barcelona are unlikely to accept an offer lower than that. The American is in search of minutes in order to arrive in peak form to the FIFA World Cup in November and reuniting with Erik ten Hag could provide him that opportunity to play before the start of the tournament.
A deal has to be reached before September 1, when the summer window shuts in the Premier League, and Dest has the potential to adapt quickly to the Red Devils’ new, more dynamic style of play. Also, Ten Hag is aware of his talents and he will be given a chance to earn the starting job at Old Trafford.
