Brazil teams up with Michael Jordan’s iconic brand for its 2026 away kit, blending football tradition with streetwear culture ahead of U.S. matches.

As revealed English website Footy Headlines, Brazil’s 2026 World Cup away kit will feature the Air Jordan logo, the iconic Nike-produced brand. The second kit is set to launch today, March 12, while the classic yellow home jersey will debut tomorrow, March 13. AS reports that both uniforms will be officially presented in São Paulo.

On Thursday, March 12, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) officially unveiled the away kit on its Instagram, partnering with Michael Jordan’s jumpman23 brand, which has more than 26 million followers. The video campaign highlights the jersey’s new slogan, switching from “Joga Bonito” (Play Beautiful) to “Joga Sinistro” (Play Wicked), revealing the Jordan Brand logo on the uniform.

Not the first Jordan-Brazil collaboration

This won’t be the first time Jordan Brand has teamed up with Brazil. In 2016, it released a special edition Jordan Brazil jersey.

“I see this as a very positive move. The away kit offers more freedom for innovation, and Jordan’s involvement helps the Brazilian national team connect with audiences who may not follow football closely but identify with the culture, style, and attitude,” said Renê Salviano, CEO of Heatmap. “As the strongest and most authoritative brand in football history, Brazil transcends sport. It needs to stay on top of trends that expand its relevance and deepen its connection with fans, always without losing its essence.”

Design details and debut dates

Footy Headlines reports that the second kit will be predominantly blue, featuring both light and dark shades. The uniform carries the “Joga Sinistro” slogan and has been previewed in images worn by players including Vinícius Júnior, Estêvão, and Marquinhos.

The first kit, of course, will remain Brazil’s signature yellow, inspired by the team that won its third World Cup in Mexico 1970. The new kits are set to debut in upcoming friendlies: March 26 against France in Boston and March 31 against Croatia at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium.

Air Jordan’s global appeal and football crossover

“Twenty-two years ago, Michael Jordan retired from basketball. Off the court, his Nike sub-brand reached $7 billion in revenue in 2024, up 6% from the previous year. Growth was fueled by multiple strategies, including the Netflix documentary “Last Dance” and expansion into non-basketball products,” said Reginaldo Diniz, CEO and co-founder of End to End.

Jordan Brand has become increasingly timeless, embodying the image of an icon driven by the desire to win. The partnership with Brazil could attract fans across generations and sports in the quest for the national team’s sixth World Cup title.

Blending tradition with innovation

“If Brazil takes a page from PSG’s playbook, incorporating Jordan’s aesthetics into its alternate World Cup kit, it would be a bold fusion of tradition and innovation. It’s a way to connect Brazilian football with global urban culture and fashion, particularly meaningful with the World Cup being hosted in the United States, the home of Nike and Michael Jordan,” said Ivan Martinho, a sports marketing professor at ESPM.

“Air Jordan is a brand built on love, widely desired and highly valued globally. Pairing it with the Brazilian national team, another global love brand, creates a fascinating exchange of attributes,” added Fábio Wolff, managing partner of Wolff Sports.
