Brazil already has the kit it will wear in its pursuit of a sixth World Cup title. That remains the great dream, and the one that has proved so elusive. The fifth came in 2022, and since then the crown has slipped away from several generations packed with talent. Nike has created a model inspired by the history of the Canarinha – a traditional jersey designed for one more push toward glory.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil side, which faces France and Croatia during this FIFA window, will debut the new strip on March 31. First, though, comes the meeting with the French team.

“Brazil is Brazil; it doesn’t need much to be Brazil. It’s easy to identify. When you see the Amarelinha shirt, you know it’s Brazil,” said Rachel Denti, the Brazilian designer who took part in creating it.

A World Cup is always special, and Denti wanted to forge a connection with the fans: “Of course it’s great to experiment with different things, but at this moment we wanted to do something focused on what is most fundamental, what is most Brazilian. The color, the flag and those details Brazilians can identify with,” she said.

Vinícius Júnior and Lucas Paquetá were the players chosen to model the new jersey for its launch. The Real Madrid forward will be Brazil’s attacking leader at the World Cup, while the midfielder was not called up for this March window.

Estêvão was another of the models used in the campaign and he will not be available against France and Croatia either because of the physical issues he has been carrying in recent weeks. Even so, he should still have an important role at the World Cup – especially after Rodrygo’s injury.
