France legend Thierry Henry honored with NYC street name
To coincide with the 2026 World Cup, Henry has been honored with a street named after him in New York City.

Just ahead of the 2026 World Cup tournament kickoff, New York City officials officially co-named the intersection of West 50th Street and 6th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan as “Thierry Henry Way.”
The temporary honorary street sign was unveiled right at the Rockefeller Center World Cup Fan Fest site. The location is heavily trafficked by football fans and tourists, especially given its proximity to landmarks like Radio City Music Hall and Rockefeller Center.

The tribute was introduced to honor Henry’s lasting legacy on both global football and American soccer. Although the French striker is well known for his time with English giants Arsenal, ‘Titi’ did have a spell with MLS side NY Red Bulls from 2010-2014.

The initiative was proposed by NYC Council Member Virginia Maloney (who represents District 4 in Manhattan). Although Henry couldn’t attend the unveiling in person due to work commitments, he sent a video message to the hundreds of fans gathered at Rockefeller Center—many of whom showed up wearing Arsenal shirts. His former Red Bulls teammate, Bradley Wright-Phillips, attended the ceremony to help unveil the sign and represent him.
