Update:

Michael Olise is emerging as one of the biggest stories of the summer transfer window, and the saga looks set to drag on. Bayern Munich knows it has a situation to resolve. As AS reported two weeks ago, and as German media have since confirmed, the player has requested a meeting with the club’s hierarchy to clear up the uncertainty surrounding his future and clarify the role he will have in the team.

Olise began the World Cup playing on the wing and as a second striker, but his influence gradually faded. By the time France faced Spain, he looked completely out of the game. Even so, the forward continues to attract interest from Europe’s biggest clubs, adding further intrigue to his upcoming meeting with Bayern officials, who remain confident they can persuade the French international not to push for a move.

Real Madrid has already issued a statement distancing itself from any interest in Olise. For now, Bayern holds both the problem and the solution. A new contract, an improved status within the squad and greater recognition for the outstanding season he produced could be enough to convince him to stay.

AS was the first to report that Olise had asked to meet Bayern’s decision-makers. Any move involving the Frenchman could trigger a domino effect across the transfer market, with several clubs closely monitoring developments.

If Olise were to leave, the transfer fee would likely approach, or even challenge, the record set by Neymar’s move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, when PSG activated his €222 million release clause. Although the World Cup has not significantly increased his market value, the Bayern star remains one of the most coveted players in European football.

According to reports in Germany, Olise’s preferred destination is the Santiago Bernabéu. Real Madrid, however, continues to deny any interest in signing the French international, insisting it has no plans to pursue him out of respect for Bayern. The German champions now face a delicate situation that appears destined to end either with a transfer or a lucrative contract renewal.
