Update:

Real Madrid has once again taken a firm stand against a racist act directed at one of its players. This time, it is in defense of Kylian Mbappé. After France’s match against Paraguay, Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla posted a message on X containing racist and xenophobic insults aimed at the France captain.

“Colonized Cameroonian pretending so hard to be French, resentful, nouveau riche, arrogant, and ugly. The idiot never even learned how to write. Instead of his mother’s milk, he sucked coconuts, and the most cultured thing he’s ever heard in his life is chimpanzees.”

Mbappé reaction to racist attack

In response to those remarks, Mbappé refused to stay silent and quickly replied on the same social media platform:

“Mrs. Celeste Amarilla, you are a despicable woman, unworthy of the office you hold. Through your recklessness and blatant racism, the entire world has now forgotten the journey and the historic effort your players made during this World Cup. I will never allow people like you to continue spreading hatred and racism throughout the world.”

Real Madrid defends Mbappé

Real Madrid also chose not to remain silent, issuing an official statement expressing its complete rejection of the senator’s remarks and its full support for the player:

Real Madrid C. F. wishes to express its strongest rejection of the regrettable racist and xenophobic remarks made by Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla against our player Kylian Mbappé.

Our club firmly condemns such statements, which are unbecoming of a political representative, and expresses its full support for our player Kylian Mbappé, who serves as a role model for millions of people, especially children around the world.

These behaviors that incite hatred should have no place in society. Football and sports are platforms for equality and solidarity, and Real Madrid will continue to work to ensure that racism, xenophobia, and violence are eradicated forever.

Real Madrid has reacted quickly on previous occasions when its players have been subjected to this kind of behavior, particularly Vinicius. The club acted forcefully in defense of the Brazilian last season after he was the target of a racist insult from Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni.
