What happened between Egypt national team during altercation with Dallas police?
Egypt’s national team has arrived in Dallas ahead of Friday’s World Cup round of 32 clash with Australia, but the African side’s arrival in Texas was overshadowed by a confrontation with police officers outside the team’s hotel.
The incident took place on Thursday afternoon as the Pharaohs reached their base for the knockout match. A group of Egyptian fans had gathered outside the hotel hoping to welcome the players, take photos and collect autographs.
What happened between the police and Egypt’s players?
As the squad walked through the hotel lobby, several supporters moved closer to the players. In a video shared on social media, security personnel can be seen shoving members of Egypt’s coaching staff as tensions quickly escalated.
According to reports, Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan became angry after police prevented a young child from taking a photo with the players. His reaction reportedly sparked a heated exchange, with pushing and shoving involving security officers as well as members of the coaching staff and some players.
The confrontation was eventually brought under control without further escalation. Hassan was escorted away from the scene, while several supporters were left disappointed after missing the chance to meet the Egypt squad before their crucial World Cup encounter with Australia.
