Update:

There is only one mystery left in World Cup 2026 Group D, but the time for the big reveal is almost here.

The United States, Paraguay and Australia are already in place. The final team will emerge from UEFA Playoff Path C, and the entire story will unfold across just five days in March 2026.

The dates that will decide Group D

Circle these in your calendar if you want to keep close tabs:

  • March 26, 2026 (semi-finals)Türkiye vs RomaniaSlovakia vs Kosovo
  • March 31, 2026 (final)Semi-final winners face off for the World Cup spot

Two games. No safety net. One ticket to Group D.

Four teams, one very different outcome

Each contender brings a completely different feel to the group.

Türkiye arrive with noise around a new generation. Kenan Yildiz, Arda Guler and Semih Kilicsoy are not just prospects anymore, they are already influencing games at the highest level.

Romania would take things in another direction. They are organized, measured and can be difficult to break down. Not spectacular, but exactly the kind of team that can drag games into uncomfortable territory.

Slovakia sit somewhere in between the above two. Flexible and experienced while Kosovo offer the wildcard, a young football nation still writing its story, playing with energy and belief.

By the time those two nights are over, Group D will be complete (along with all the others). And the U.S. – who will be testing themselves against other European teams over the same days – will have a much clearer idea of whether this group is manageable… or something far more complicated.
