Samu Castillejo is poised to move to Liga MX side Xolos de Tijuana according to AS México sources.

Castillejo, who plays on the right wing is negotiating a departure from Valencia, where the player has had a run-in with coach Rubén Baraja. The 28-year-old has been sidelined by Baraja for all of Valencia’s pre-season games and has also missed out on the LaLiga sides first two openers of the new season due to issues related to discipline.

Castillejo still has two years left to run on his current contract and his agent was at Mestalla over the weekend to meet with club officials and work out a deal that would release the player.

Saudi offer

The stumbling block for Xolos may come from the Middle East where Saudi Pro League side Al Khaleej have apparently offered the Malaga born player an attractive proposition but the Portuguese coach of the SPL side Pedro Emanuel has expressed concerns relating to the player’s supposed problems of indiscipline.

Who is Samu Castillejo?

Samu Castillejo emerged from the youth set up at Málaga and from there he went to Villarreal, where he played in the Champions League for the “Yellow Submarine”. After playing fifty games with the side from Castellon, the winger arrived at Milan, in the Italian Serie A, where he played regularly until his performances started to wane.

The winger return to Spain to play for Valencia in 2022, brought by Gennaro Gattuso, but when the Italian was sacked, Castillejo disappeared from the map at Mestalla.
