Necaxa did not allow themselves to be intimidated by the Pumas’ fans, as they secured a 2-2 draw on the field of the University Olympic Stadium. The night’s antagonist, however, was defender Jair Omar Cortés, who played only a few seconds in the match as he received a red card, making him the quickest player to be sent off.

In the 78th minute, coach Eduardo Fentanes opted to make a substitution, replacing the Argentine José Paradela for the Mexican Jair Cortés. However, at the moment of the substitution, the international received a caution for entering the field of play before his teammate had exited.

Red in seconds for Cortés

The Necaxa player took his place on the field, but his presence in the game would be short-lived.

Just a few seconds later, he committed a harsh foul on Robert Ergas in the middle of the pitch. It was at this point that referee César Ramos Palazuelos did not hesitate and opted to issue a second caution, subsequently showing the red card. Faced with this situation, coach Fentanes had to make tactical adjustments and decided to retreat on the playing field in order to secure the draw at the University Olympic Stadium.
