Pochettino remains positive despite poor performances
Pochettino has two losses from two World Cup preparation games, but you wouldn’t think so if you spoke to him.
A couple of league titles as a player, along with two Copas del Rey and an Intertoto Cup. Then there’s a Ligue 1 title, a French Cup, and a Champions League runners-up medal as a manager.
That’s just me looking over at Mauricio Pochettino’s mantlepiece in his living room, it’s quite the spectacle. There are a few more managerial honours there, and is that a Gold Cup silver medal?
He’s coached in England, Spain, France, and the United States, and has played on more continents than I’ve visited on holiday. Don’t forget the 20 caps for Argentina, as well.
What I’m trying to say is: Mauricio Pochettino knows his way around a football pitch - so why can’t he see what’s going wrong with the USMNT?
Two defeats from two, against Belgium and Portugal, but everyone is holding hands, announcing documentaries, and singing about how form is right around the corner. There are only a few months to go before the World Cup starts and you’re hosting, Poch, so where is the urgency, the evidence that whatever is being done is being done well? We certainly didn’t see it over the past 180 minutes.
