Two Barcelona fans arrested for Nazi salutes and racist chants

During the Champions League game, police arrested two Barça fans at Parc des Princes stadium for “apology for war crimes and public racist insults”.

During the Champions League quarterfinal between PSG and Barcelona on Wednesday, two Barça fans were arrested for making racist chants and Nazi salutes. The two were caught on security cameras. They had carried posters which read, “You can buy players, but you can’t buy history”.

The police chief accused them of “apology for war crimes and public insults of a racist nature.” French media reported that they were seen making monkey noises. French police have identified some and are investigating to see whether or not more people were involved. Police were already on high alert after threats of an attack during the Champions League came from ISIS.

At this time, the names and ages of the two detainees have not been released and it is unknown whether or not they are part of the FC Barcelona radical groups, who’d warned in advance that they’d be traveling to Paris. Even the night before the match, police had arrested several people for posting racist banners around the Parc des Princes stadium.
