Tornado tears through the city of Greenwood, Indiana damaging homes and property
Multiple tornadoes touched down throughout the central United States on Sunday, leaving massive destruction in their wake and at least three deaths.
Severe storms have caused multiple tornadoes throughout the central United States, which have left at least three dead in Indiana and Arkansas. The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center reported over 400 severe weather reports on Sunday, many of which included wind and hail, causing several homes to be damaged and left without electricity.
Several videos have been posted to social media which show the tonadoes’ devastating destruction, including this one, which shows one tearing through an apartment complex in Greenwood, Indiana, flattening several buildings in its path and throwing debris through the air. It only took about 15 minutes for the tornado to cause serious damage across a four-mile radius, harming as many as 75 homes in Indiana.
One death was confirmed in Martin County, Indiana and emergency officials said the victim’s partner was injured and airlifted to a hospital. The couple lived in a two-story log cabin, which was destroyed by the tornado. Two deaths were confirmed in Carlisle, Arkansas after a tree fell on their home.
Emergency shelters were set up in Indiana for the people whose homes were destroyed or damaged and as of Monday morning, several homes were still without power throughout the U.S. Midwest and south.
