VIDEO: Manchester City chairman speaks about Premier League charges

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has “very strong views” regarding the financial charges against the team, saying that he is frustrated.

In February, Manchester City was charged by the Premier League with 115 financial breaches between 2009 and 2018. They were also accused of not cooperating in the investigation in 2018.

City’s chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has addressed the charges, saying that he has some “very strong views” and will “give very blunt views” when the time comes. He said that he will “be restrained” while speaking about the charges now, but once things are resolved, he won’t hesitate to speak his mind.

What he did make clear though, was that he feels it’s unfair to judge Manchester City based on these charges. Al Mubarak thinks instead that they should be celebrated for their accomplishments. City just won the Champions League, earning them a treble on the season with the Premier League title and the FA Cup win. They now face being stripped of the Premier League titles they won between 2009-2018 (four).

It’s very frustrating because it takes so much from the great work that’s happening at this club and it’s happening not just on the football pitch,” said Al Mubarak. “What these players have achieved this year, the treble, is incredible,” Al Mubarak said.
