RUNNING OF THE BULLS

Video: Running of the bulls day six | dangerous herd, quick and clean

Another early rise for the runners in Pamplona, with bulls from the ranch where the last San Fermin death came from.

Wednesday morning and the sixth day of the running of the bulls in Pamplona, northern Spain, as part of the San Fermín festival popularised in the English-speaking world by Ernest Hemingway in his book The Sun Also Rises.

Today’s animals were from the Jandilla bull-ranch (Badajoz), and in the past bulls from here have caused more than thirty injuries and were actually responsible (some would argue the organisers were more to blame!) for the last death in San Fermín. Daniel Jimeno from Madrid was gored by a Jandilla bull and died on 10 July 2009.

The characteristic speed was on show again here, with the run completed in 2 minutes and 23 seconds. It was deemed a clean run, with the herd very compact up to the halfway point of the course, until several bulls got ahead of the rest.

In the early medical report, the Red Cross reported two requests for transfer to hospital. One for concussion and the other for a non-penetrating wound. For the moment, it appears that no one has been injured by the horns of the bulls.
