RUNNING OF THE BULLS

Video: Running of the bulls day three | herd separates in Pamplona chase

It may be a day of rest for some, but Sunday had the expectant crowd of runners ready and willing for los toros de San Fermin.

Pamplona was into its third day of the running of the bulls on Sunday, as the capital of Navarre province continued its celebrations for the festival popularised in the English speaking world by Ernest Hemingway in his book The Sun Also Rises.

This third running of the bulls lasted 2 minutes and 53 seconds (longer than both Day 1 and Day 2) and it was a rather dangerous one as the bulls did not run through the streets in a pack. Instead two of the bulls immediately took the lead over the rest causing “moments of very high tension,” according to the television commentator.

At the time of writing, as stated by the Red Cross, there have been five hospital transfers for injured runners. Two of them for contusions and one for a bull horn. The other two requests are still being assessed.
