Viral video comparing Federer’s 2006 move to Alcaraz in 2023

Carlos Alcaraz’s cross-court shot against Novak Djokovic at Roland Garros is eerily similar to a move Roger Federer pulled against David Nalbandian in 2006.

A video has gone viral comparing Carlos Alcaraz to Roger Federer in 2006. Alcaraz played the French Open semifinals match against Novak Djokovic on Friday and had one particularly impressive shot against him.

Djokovic drew Alcaraz to the net with a drop shot, which Alcaraz easily shot back. Then, Djokovic hit a deep shot, to which Alcaraz responded with a last-second cross-court shot to send the ball flying over the net to win it.

What’s crazy about that shot is it’s exactly the same move that tennis legend Roger Federer pulled off in a French Open semifinal match against David Nalbandian, 17 years earlier.

The move from Alcaraz prompted a standing ovation from the crowd and even Djokovic himself as well.
