Watch: Canadian citizen attacks Colombian police officer in El Dorado airport

The shocking footage was caught on a mobile by a passer by, but the man in question later gave an explanation for his behaviour.

According to information published by Caracol Noticias, the Canadian citizen who attacked a police officer at the El Dorado airport in the city of Bogotá will be kicked out of the country and is not being sent to jail. During the hearing, the man spoke before a judge and pointed out that he had been in the air terminal for four days without eating or sleeping and did not know what he was doing.

“When I spoke with the lawyer in an interview, I told him that I had been at the airport for four days and that I had not eaten, had not slept, and I was not thinking about what I was doing with the police officer,” said Vincent Tong Zocio.

Despite the fact that the Prosecutor’s Office charged him with the crime of violence against a public servant, the accusing entity did not request an insurance measure against the foreigner. In addition, it left him at the disposal of Colombian Immigration to carry out the administrative procedures for expulsion from the country.

“Videos and other evidence show that on the morning of July 10, the 34-year-old foreigner launched himself against the uniformed officer to seize his gun. As he failed in his attempt, he grabbed him by the chest and struck him in the face repeatedly until several people intervened,” the Prosecutor’s Office said in an official statement.
