Watch: Terrible pitch quality at the Estadio Jalisco ahead of the game between Atlas and Sporting Gijon

Atlas and Sporting Gijón faced off against each other in a pre-season friendly at the Estadio Jalisco, where the stadium’s terrible pitch grabbed the headlines. From the moment the two teams stepped out to warm up, it was clear that various staff members from the Spanish side were working hard to find the most damaged zones. The players were also extremely careful when planting their boots into the surface.

The state of the pitch at the stadium is well known. Until now, the grass has not had the time required to recover and lines can be seen going from one end to the other. The poor quality of the pitch recently prevented the Atlas Women’s team from playing a game, which would have been the first of their Apertura 2023 campaign.

As for the friendly, it went ahead as planned and Atlas will have to keep up their promise of improving the conditions as they don’t have much time in front of them. The women’s team will play their rearranged game on 26 July and three days later, they will take on FC Juárez.
