MIAMI OPEN

What did Andy Murray write on the Miami Open camera? What did he mean?

36-year-old Andy Murray pulled off a comeback to beat Matteo Berrettini at the Miami Open and advance to the second round and this was his message.

Update:

Andy Murray proved that he’s not throwing in the towel just yet. At 36 years old, Murray made his debut in the Miami Open 18 years ago and has since won twice, in 2009 and 2013. Now he’s looking for one more shot at victory.

After losing the opening set to Italian Matteo Berrettini, Murray pulled off an impressive comeback to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and move on to the second round of the tournament.

At the end of the match, Murray came over to the courtside cameras and scrawled a message on the lens: “There’s life in the old dog yet :)”

If you’re not familiar with the expression, it’s an old idiom to mean that although someone is old, they are still capable of doing something well. Murray proved he still has life in him yet, too, especially in the third set, when he fought through an 18-point game to secure the lone break and come back from a 0-40 deficit to reach 4-2. Murray will take on No. 29 seed, Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, whom he lost to in the Australian Open earlier this year.
