News agency AFP published a photograph on Sunday that may lead to punishment for Real Madrid midfielder James Rodríguez.

In the image, taken by AFP photographer Luis Acosta, the captain of the Colombia national team, wearing an official Colombia shirt, is seen making an obscene gesture in the direction of the press gathered outside the headquarters of the Colombian Football Federation in Bogotá.

In Colombian daily El Tiempo, journalist Gabriel Meluk expanded on the incident: "[Acosta] told me that there were three agency photographers and two reporters from WIN Sports there at the time. Behind them were the rest of the press doing interviews with the players. Then, from the second floor of the hotel where the gymnasium is, James appeared and aimed a “pistol” in our direction.”

The player has not yet made any comment on the matter and the federation and Colombia’s technical staff have also remained quiet.
