Castilla slip up and hand lead back to Barakaldo

The Castilla side were clearly missing the influence of Borja Mayoral against an organised Arenas side. Barakaldo win at home and return to the summit.

After seven straight wins, new coach Ramis (who replaced Zinedine Zidane as he made the move to oversee the first team) suffered his first taste of defeat as his Castilla side succumbed to Basque side, Arenas de Getxo yesterday. The defeat was compounded by a Barakaldo win earlier in the evening as they overcame local rivals Portugalete by a solitary goal.

The absence of forward Borja Mayoral, who was called up for the first team squad was a major loss for Castilla. The side failed to deal with the adverse meteorological conditions at the Gobela ground as rain and a strong wind lashed the playing surface. The weather had earlier forced a series of games in the area to be cancelled including neighbouring Fadura's game against Alaves 'B' in the third division.

The home side adapted to the poor playing conditions and went ahead on the eight minute. Javi Muñoz, managed to pull Castilla level but a Dani López goal for the home side was enough to see the points remain in the Basque Country and Castilla to lose their grip on the pole position in the attempt to return to the second tier of Spanish football.
