Bernabéu security pulls down anti-Pérez banner
The offending message to the under-fire president lasted 30 seconds on Saturday: "Listen to the stadium and resign," it read.
The Bernabéu’s private security withdrew a banner hoisted by fans before kick-off on Saturday criticizing the club president, Florentino Pérez. The sign read: “Listen to the stadium and resign, Florentino.”
Another banner raised before the match against Celta by a fan group sent a message to the players. The area of the ground designated for the most vocal supporters was silent for the first three minutes of Saturday’s game in protest at recent performances and afterwards a banner bearing the famous phrase of club legend Alfredo di Stéfano was displayed: “To wear this crest you have to sweat in the shirt.”
