Real Madrid's victory over Barcelona in Saturday night's El Clásico saw Los Azulgranas' Spanish-record unbeaten run in all competitions brought to an end.

Madrid's triumph - the first time they have come from behind to win at the Camp Nou since 1965 - halted Barça's sequence at 39 games.

Luis Enrique's men had not tasted defeat since October last year, when they went down 2-1 at Sevilla in week 7 of the LaLiga campaign.

Only two sides from Europe's five major leagues (Spain, England, Germany, Italy and France), have ever outdone the Catalan club's streak.

Between March and November 1978, Nottingham Forest posted 40 matches without losing, while Juventus put together 43 unbeaten from May 2011 to May 2012.

Real Madrid are also the first team to defeat Barça on their own ground in 35 games, since Málaga earned a 1-0 win in February 2015.
