CASTILLA 3 - GERNIKA 0
Mariano hat-trick fires Real Madrid Castilla top
With Castilla's 3-0 win over Gernika and Barakaldo's surprise loss to Real Sociedad 'B' the Real Madrid 'B' side top the table with four games remaining.
Real Madrid Castilla completed a great weekend for the club. Following Real Madrid's demolition of Geatfe on Saturday, the 'B' team saw off Gernika last night as they maintain their push for a Segunda division spot
The defeat was made even sweeter after previous leaders Barakaldo were surprisingly beaten in San Sebastian to Real Sociedad 'B' and now Ramis' team have destiny in their own hands in securing the all important top spot which avoids an arduous series of multiple play-off games.
Mariano was the hero at the Alfredo di Stefano as his triple (two from the spot and a delightful lob) saw off any resistance from their Basque opponents. Martin Odegaard performed excellently and it was the Norwegian player who managed to secure the first penalty for Castilla.
They may not have the BBC but the M&M combination of Mayoral and Mariano could be enough to maintain Castilla's push for a return to the second tier of Spanish football with fours games and the dreaded play¡offs looming.
