BARCELONA | CAPELLO

"Barcelona are missing a captain to get them going"

In the build up to the Laureus, the Italian coach spoke about the Blaugranas being short of a strong leader in the changing room. "They miss someone like Puyol."

Fabio Capello, former Real Madrid, Milan and England coach, among others, and key player from the bench in the comeback of the 2006-07 season, hinted at a lack of character in the Barcelona locker room in recent games.

He chose not to compare his Madrid comeback with the one currently happening because, in his opinion, this time it's all happening much quicker. "This time, the comeback has happened really quickly. Barca have lost a lot of points and are now in great difficulty. When we did it, we went step by step, quietly, right up until the last day of the season. We also had the advantage of the head-to-head.

He went on to say, "You can't tell what will happen now and it's possible that Barça will get back on track, both physically and mentally. But I think a captain in the mould of Puyol (who was also present at the press conference) to pull them along is needed. We managed to win the league; I don't know who'll do so this time."
