Confident Casillas: "We can retain our Euros title"
The Spain keeper added: “We’ve got a young side that has undergone quite a few changes in recent years, but we’re ready.”
Spain and Porto keeper, Iker Casillas, was in confident mood as he discussed Spain’s chances of retaining their crown as European Champions in France – to be played from 10 June to 10 July.
“We’ve got a young side that has undergone quite a few changes in recent years, but we’re ready for this tournament and we can achieve our aim, which is to retain the Euros title,” Casillas said during the filming of a 'H&S' advert, which also featured Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer and Manchester City’s Joe Hart.
Casillas also discussed the “added pressure” of being a successful footballer. “We represent a lot of people and that's something you have to live with from the time you start playing. It's normal. I like to think about what can happen over 90 minutes, isolated from the noise,” he said.
Moreover, the former Real Madrid skipper discussed the importance of players' image, given that they’re role models for young people: “We’re a mirror for kids and you have to maintain a good and healthy image. The more comfortable you are with yourself, the more confidence you have,” he concluded.
