Constantin Galca's time as Espanyol manager is cut short
The Parakeets told the Romanian coach and his two assistants that their services will not be required for 2016-17. Club owner Chen Yansheng is expected to travel to China this evening.
Having avoided relegation this season Espanyol have opted to cut ties with first team coach Constantin Galca, the man appointed in December to keep the Parakeets in the Spanish top-flight.
Galca was brought in to turn things around for the Catalan outfit, replacing Sergio Gonzalez when the club were mired in a relegation battle, and the Romanian managed to stir the team to a 13th place finish, five points above the drop zone.
Although the Bucarest-born man’s contract runs through until June 30 but the club have announced they will be extending his tenure.
Outgoing coach at relegated Rayo Vallecano Paco Jemez, recently sacked Watford coach Quique Sanchez Flores and former Marseille handler Michel are all thought to be potential replacements.
